Missaukee County, Michigan

Missaukee County is located in the northeastern part of the lower peninsula, traversed by M-55. The county contains 565 square miles and is the 52nd largest in the state. The county seat is Lake City. The Pere Marquette State Forest covers much of the county. Farms account for about one-quarter of the land, much of it in livestock production, particularly dairy cows. Lumber and wood products are the main manufacturing activities.

Forest and wildlife areas cover much of the land, offering hunting, fishing, boating, and other outdoor recreation activities. Miss-Kal Line Snowmobile Trail; The Festival of the Pines, Lake City (September); mushroom hunting, Lake Missaukee; 4th of July celebration; numerous county parks and state forest campgrounds, hunting, fishing, boating and other outdoor recreational resources.
