Cedar, Michigan

Founded by Benjamin Boughey about 1885, who moved here to go into the lumbering business.  He named it Cedar City because it was located in a cedar forest, and its depot is still named such. Its name on maps and its post office is Cedar.  Informational excerpts from Michigan Place Names, by Walter Romig, L.H.D.
